I’m always in motion, rarely still, except when I’m drawing or painting. My work reflects this restlessness. Guided by personal experience, I’m drawn to subjects that resist stillness: figures in motion, fleeting moments, passing landscapes. There’s movement not just in what I depict, but in how I create. I often work with pencil, recently turning to paint or whatever materials are close at hand—always chasing momentum.

I stand while I work, stepping in and out of the image, redrawing lines across multiple pages until they feel right. This rhythm - messy, chaotic, physical - is the core of my practice. I don’t use sketchbooks. I prefer loose pages scattered around me, each part of the larger motion. My lines curve instinctively, carrying their own speed and direction.

I often produce my best work in short, urgent bursts. Limited time brings focus and from that pressure comes a raw energy and simplicity that drives the image forward.

Throughout this period, she has continued her creative engagement as a mentor for the Association of Illustrators and as a Derwent Artist Ambassador.

After some time away from the illustration industry, I’m returning with a fresh perspective and renewed creative energy. Both the industry and my own practice have evolved during this period. My work has become more introspective, focusing on the human experience - exploring themes of physicality, vulnerability, and connection. I’m now looking forward to collaborating with clients whose values and vision align with my artistic direction.

Originally from Ireland, Claudine now lives in Glasgow with her husband and two children. Through running and writing, she continues to nurture a creative practice rooted in storytelling, connection, and a deep appreciation for nature. Her visual work evolves playfully and organically alongside family life, woven into the everyday rhythms of motherhood.
