IMPACT 2 — from run to artwork
A creative collaboration with hylo athletics, bringing running, drawing and painting together through their IMPACT 2 shoe.

Hylo challenged me to explore a new run route in the shoes, then paint the product and draw the route. Working through my ongoing practice, Movement as Method, I began with the run itself.

Back in the studio, I translated the rhythm and energy of the run into a painted response, experimenting with printing from the sole of the shoe. These marks sit alongside a painted study of the IMPACT 2, connecting the shoe with the experience of moving in it.

After more than a decade working as an illustrator, this project brings close observation back into conversation with my increasingly abstract painting practice. The shoe provides a recognisable form; the run shapes the marks around it.
