Enclosure, 2026

Enclosure marks a shift within Movement as Method from trajectory towards questions of holding, containment and the space created by a moving body.

Developed through running and post-run studio studies, the works move away from tracing directional movement and towards the structures that movement creates. Marks begin to surround, interrupt and hold areas of negative space, with the void becoming as significant as the painted form itself.

Rather than depicting landscape, the paintings translate the experience of moving through it. Repeated routes, changing conditions and remembered movement are reduced into relationships between edge, pressure, form and absence.

The series extends an ongoing process of reduction within my practice, using a restrained material language to explore how embodied experience can be translated without illustration or representation.

Works from Enclosure have been exhibited across Glasgow, including exhibitions at Transmission Gallery and Six Foot Gallery.
