Trail Series | Up & Running Events

Commissioned by Up & Running, this project translates a newly developed trail race route into spatial abstraction.

Running the terrain functioned as primary research, observing elevation change, horizon line and surface variation. Initial graphite studies mapped the route perspectively, registering vanishing points and contour shifts.

These studies were progressively reorganised into intersecting planes and colour fields, compressing description into structure.

The resulting limited edition print consolidates the route into angular spatial logic. The visual language informed the design of the race medal, embedding the artwork within the event itself.

This project represents an early stage in the evolution of Movement as Method, where terrain begins shifting from depicted landscape toward constructed structure.
